Colonel - 1918-1919 - head of the Geographical Service of the Army in the Interior Zone


ALEXANDRU PÂRVANOVICI was born on October 26, 1862, in the city of Pitești.
From July 1, 1877, to July 1, 1882, he attended the Military School for the Sons of Soldiers in Iași, followed by the Infantry and Cavalry Military School, which he graduated from in 1884. On July 1, 1884, he began courses at the Special School of Artillery and Engineering, and on the same date, he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant. After graduation, on February 1, 1885, he was assigned to the 6th Artillery Regiment.
On December 1, 1887, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to the 27th Dorobanți Regiment. On October 18, 1889, he remained assigned to the 27th Dorobanți Regiment, but he was "attached" to the "School of the Sons of Soldiers in Craiova."
In 1893, he was detached to the Military Administration School. Here, he was promoted to the rank of captain on January 1, 1894. After completing the Military Administration School, he was assigned to the 4th Argeș Regiment.
From April 1, 1896, to October 1, 1896, he attended the Military Administration School again. On February 1, 1905, he was transferred to the Târgsor Military Prison (near Ploiești), then to the 27th Bacău Regiment (between 1907 and 1908), and later to the 2nd Vâlcea Regiment.
He was promoted to the rank of major on October 1, 1913, and transferred to the 12th Cantemir Regiment. On April 1, 1914, he was transferred to the Army Geographic Service, where he remained until April 1, 1915, when he was transferred again to the 27th Bacău Regiment. On November 1, 1916, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and on September 1, 1917, he was promoted to colonel.
On June 13, 1918, he was appointed head of the Army Geographic Service for the Interior Zone (a sedentary structure of the service, which was part of the Ministry of War and did not participate in military operations).
At this time, the head of the Army Geographic Service for the Army Zones (the operational part of the service that was part of the Great General Staff) was Brigadier General Ioan Pavelescu.
Alexandru Pârvanovici served as head of the Army Geographic Service for the Interior Zone until 1919, when Brigadier General Radu Toroceanu was appointed as the superior director of the Army Geographic Service.
He was placed in the reserves due to age limitations on October 1, 1922, but continued to work within the Military Geographic Service, serving as the chief engineer.
On April 1, 1927, he was retired due to reaching the age limit.
He passed away on October 22, 1927, at the age of 65.
