GHEORGHE JITIANU was born on September 22, 1874, in the village of Tâmpeni, Olt County.

He began his military career by attending the "School for Sons of Military Personnel" from August 2, 1890, to July 10, 1893. He then continued for three months at the Military Officer School, which he graduated from in September 1893. At the same time, he became a student at the Military School of Artillery and Engineering.

After graduating on July 10, 1895, he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant and assigned to the 2nd Fortress Regiment.

On September 1, 1896, he was transferred to the 12th Artillery Regiment, where he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on July 1, 1898.

In 1899, he completed a one-year internship at the 7th Foot Artillery Regiment in Westphalia, Germany, where he was highly regarded for his "diligence and demonstrated knowledge."

In 1900, he attended the Shooting School in Jüterbog, Germany.

He was transferred to the 1st Fortress Artillery Regiment on April 7, 1902.

On November 1, 1902, he was assigned to the Ministry of War.

He was reassigned to the 10th Artillery Regiment on April 21, 1903, and on April 1, 1903, he was again transferred to the 2nd Fortress Regiment.

He was promoted to the rank of captain on May 10, 1906.

Between 1909 and 1913, he served at the General Artillery and Navy School as a "professor of artillery courses and study inspector for officer cadets."

He graduated (with no specific dates mentioned) from the Combined Artillery and Engineering School in Charlottenburg, Germany.

On May 10, 1911, he was awarded the "Crown of Romania" Order, Fifth Class, and the German "Prussian Crown" Order, Third Class.

He was promoted to the rank of major on April 1, 1913, and assigned to the 14th Artillery Regiment.

On June 23, 1913, he was mobilized and sent on a mission to the Krupp factories to oversee the reception of a military arms and equipment order.

On November 1, 1915, he was transferred to the 3rd Heavy Artillery Regiment.

He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel on April 1, 1916, and transferred to the 2nd Heavy Artillery Regiment.

After only one year, on September 1, 1917, he was promoted to the rank of colonel.

On October 1, 1920, he was assigned to the 1st Heavy Artillery Brigade.

On October 1, 1922, he was appointed commander of the Heavy Artillery.

He was promoted to the rank of brigadier general on April 1, 1923, and in October of the same year, he was appointed commander of the Artillery Application Schools.

In 1928, he was appointed director of the Army Pyrotechnics Department.

On April 1, 1930, he was appointed commander of the Military Artillery School, and on May 20, 1930, he became Chief of the Army Geographic Service.

Starting in 1932, he was appointed General Inspector of Artillery, a position he held until 1935, when he was placed in reserve on December 1.

While in reserve, he served as the Army’s General Technical Inspector until 1940, when, on January 1, he was retired due to age limits.

The date of his death is unknown.
