
Major General - 1952-1968 - Head of the Military Topographic Directorate
VASILE SUTA was born on September 17, 1911, in the city of Reșița.
He attended elementary school in Satu Mare until 1921 and completed his high school studies at the theoretical high school in the commune of Somcuta Mare, Sălaj County, graduating in 1926.
Between 1926 and 1928, he worked as an apprentice at the Meresi Maiteini Workshops and Burger and Boroni Garage in Satu Mare.
From 1928 to 1929, he worked as a worker at the Barta Sigismund Workshops in Satu Mare.
From 1929 until March 1935, according to his personal file, he was unemployed in Satu Mare, and from 1935 to April 1940, he was employed as a mechanic at the Electric Factory in Satu Mare.
From March 1933 to October 1934, he served in the army at the 1st Artillery Regiment in Timișoara, and from September 1937 to July 1939, he was concentrated at the same regiment, then mobilized between 1939 and December 1944.
From September 1940 to August 1945, he worked as a mechanic at the National Methane Company in Mediaș, at Banat Motor in Timișoara, and as an auto mechanic at the “I.E.T. Garage” in Timișoara.
After attending a "25-day course at the Regional Party Committee of Bihor in 1945," he was appointed “responsible for propaganda, mass organization, and secretary of the County Party Committee of Satu Mare."
Between August 1948 and July 1949, he attended the Ștefan Gheorghiu University in Bucharest, after which he was appointed "party secretary in Arad County" and continued with "a one-month course at D.S.P.A. (Superior Political Directorate of the Army - ed.) for action within the Army."
In his personal file, under the section "Date of entry into the army and in which unit," it is noted that "on September 1, mobilized by the party from the labor field, promoted to lieutenant-colonel," and "assigned to R.II.M. - as head of the political direction."
He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 1, 1950, and two years later, on September 30, 1952, he was promoted to colonel.
In 1952, he was appointed head of the Military Topographic Directorate. This is the last mention in his personal file.
He held the position of head of the Military Topographic Directorate for 16 years, until 1968.
In 1968, he was retired with the rank of major general.
He passed away on July 28, 1994, at the age of 83.
